St. Louis, MO.
We Care Worldwide, Inc. and it’s private & corporate
partners will donate over $90 million dollars in Global Entrepreneurship Training Scholarships to Teens and
Young Adults around the world in 2008.
St.
Louis, MO. Entrepreneur
Steve Conley’s dream of an online Global Entrepreneurship
Institute has become a reality.
The first year’s goal is to train 20,000 young people
around the globe to be community leaders, global networking
experts and most importantly to understand Economic Reciprocity.
The training provides a foundation for choosing to develop
an entrepreneurial mindset, and covers self-assessments,
leadership and business management skills, business plan
development, web-based business basics, marketing strategies,
relationship building, communications, networking and economic
reciprocity.
Conley explains: “Our process uses technology to
accommodate time zones around the world.
We combine technical information with a real world
perspective by having successful business people share their
knowledge with our students.”
Conley says that examples used in his course represent
real world business opportunities and include African American
business people as role models and mentors.
At the end of the 12 course program, each student who
successfully completes the training will work with professionals
in their field of interest, and will also be provided with an
e-commerce enabled website.
The We Care staff and a host of stellar mentors will
continue to support their efforts for years to come, while they
network with other young entrepreneurs in the We Care Global
Village.
“It’s about time adults stop complaining about our young
people and start doing something to change things. Parents and
other responsible family and community people have to think
about whether to splurge on video games, expensive sneakers and
electronic gear, or really invest in changing the mindset of
today’s children. And we have to start training our children
to do business in a networked way – with people who do
business with us in a respectful way. That’s what we’re
doing here,” according to Conley.
Conley and his team are networking with national and
international organizations, professional sports figures,
world-renowned business leaders and entertainers to develop the
list of scholarship recipients.
“We provide the participation criteria, then let others
select our students for us,” says Conley.
“That way, there are communities of support for these
young people around the world. One such community is the AMEC
(African Methodist Episcopal Church) which is the largest and
oldest black religious denomination in the United States.
The AMEC is a community of 5 million members, 9,000
pastors, 7,000 churches, that founded 12 historically black
colleges, and produce 120 annual conferences worldwide.
The top 100 young leaders from their Young People’s
Division (200,000 strong women & men) are currently enrolled
in the We Care Worldwide Global Entrepreneurship Training
Program. “These
are the types of organizations that I am looking for to
distribute our scholarships”, Conley said.
We Care has already provided scholarships to students in 26
U.S. States, 13 African Countries, and 3 Caribbean Islands.

St. Louis, MO.
We Care Worldwide, Inc., a St. Louis based website
management that also trains young people to become entrepreneurs, is coordinating
The Black Star Project’s Million Father March 2007 for
the city of St. Louis.
In St. Louis, activities will include
encouraging fathers to walk through the front doors arm-in-arm
with their sons and daughters on the first day of the school
year as a way of demonstrating their commitment to family and
the education of their young.
“We hope that this will be only the beginning of
ongoing activities between primarily father and son because of
the breakdown in our families. However, we hope that fathers
will also support their daughters,’ says Steve Coley, CEO of
We Care Worldwide.
“We are asking for support in every sector of
our community,” Conley goes on to say. “If we are to make a
dent in the current state of our community, we need all hands on
deck. All schools are invited to participate. Mothers are invited.”
Fathers can register to demonstrate their
support of this effort by picking up and completing registration
forms at numerous locations around town including the Thinking
Pad at St. Louis Mills Mall, and on Saturday, August 18 at the
Minority Black Expo, St. Louis America’s Center.
They
can also register online at www.homeworknetwork.net.
St.
Louis is among 200 cities across the U. S. that are
participating in this event.
According
to Conley, there are very compelling reasons why the community
needs to support this effort.
A father who actively participates in the educational and
socially developmental life of a child is invaluable and
irreplaceable! Research
shows that children whose fathers take active roles in their
educational lives earn better grades, get better test scores,
enjoy school more and are more likely to graduate from high
school and attend college. Additionally, children have fewer
behavior and discipline problems when fathers listen to and
speak with their children regularly and are active in their
lives. A good
father is part of a good parent team and is critical to
developing a strong family structure that properly nurtures
children. Strong
family structures produce children who are more centered,
academically proficient and socially developed and are a
valuable asset to their communities.
Better parents produce better communities, better schools
and better students with higher academic achievement!
The
Million Father March is the brainchild of Phillip Jackson, and
is associated with his Black Star project.
